The State Department for Correctional Services is inviting applications from qualified candidates for the position of Cook. This is the entry grade for the cook's cadre, where successful candidates will undergo on the job training and perform duties under the supervision of a senior officer.

Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable.
Salary Range: Ksh. 21,120 to Ksh. 26,250 per month.
Annual Leave Allowance: Ksh. 6,500 per annum.
Commuter Allowance: Ksh. 3,000 per month.
Leave Entitlement: 30 days per annum.
House Allowance: Ksh. 2,960 to Ksh. 4,500 per month, depending on the region of deployment.
Medical Cover: As provided by the Government.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare raw foods for cooking.
Ensure cleanliness of equipment used in food production.
Maintain hygiene by cleaning the kitchen and its surrounding areas.
Set up and prepare equipment for use in food preparation and production.
Alert the supervisor of any defective equipment.

Qualifications

Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade D (Plain) or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Craft Certificate in Food and Beverage Production, Sales and Service, or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Alternatively, have attended a formal course lasting not less than two months in Food Production organized by the Kenya Utalii College or another recognized institution.
